Could not something that's proprietary, come with something like a rootkit by default ? (I've heard that one version of "doze" used to send directory listing to M$. Could be terribly wrong here too...) Rootkits are hard to detect, root-kits could be installed even FLOSS machines too(poorly secured machines), but then it's better not having a rootkit kinda thing it in a default installation, ain't it ?
