Been a long long while since I posted on this list.
Normally I don't due to the very low signal to noise
ratio (didn't someone mention 'not one tech mail for 3
days?').

But decided to break the silence on this occasion
since I saw a couple of flames that had something to
do with someone not having a firm grasp of the English
language, and then this Witch/Wizard situation came
up, which is simply ridiculous.

If this is the same person who had the language
problem, then here is that persons' reason for working
on language skills. Nothing to be ashamed of, my lack
of command on a language, whatever it may be, is not
reason enough to be defensive about it. It's more of a
reason to get better at it if I need to use it to
communicate.

I waste a lot of time at work going over source code
that makes very little sense, simply because the
person who wrote it had poor language skills. Very
often the intent is not derivable from what that
person is saying or writing simply because he/she
doesn't know enough to express himself/herself
correctly. This results in that person being
misunderstood, which is bad for everyone involved.

So, in this context, 'Witch' is not a happy tag for a
woman with wizard like skills. Avoid the whole name
calling game altogether and simply say she is
extremely good at what she does.

Enough of a language lesson for now, hope you go on to
write clear and coherent code (if that is your calling
in life), and quit calling people names altogether.

Regards
Arup
