ripping from vcd to divx -> install mplayer. man mencoder.

Hi ,
Yeah I also knew about mencoder from freenode.net & used it to create
divx. My way is at first rip the vcd into a mpg file (this size become
603 mb to 680 mb due to that) ,then convert it into divx format
using mencoder.
But problem is that mencoder give error for doing 2 -pass dvix encoding
& also said that I do not have lame installed while doing 3pass encoding
& reult is error in sound (mainly conversation , but the back groud
sound is okay) also using mplayer I can not control that time slide of
the divx movie.
Now tatahgata da do you use the commands found in the manual to convert
a movie into divx format or do you have your own if so can you post
them.
