The only time I found it to be really useful is when I
tried using some tiny console fonts that had bugs.
Konsole takes the font business pretty seriously, and
will not work with any buggy fonts. 
Eterm worked with these fonts, but then again didn't
have tabbed consoles (if it does, I haven't found it
yet), which is a seriously cool feature as far as
consoles go, therefore back to konsole for me.
