Hi All, For people with the Reliance WLL service, buggy and costly Internet connection will be a thing of the past.
The Reliance handsets also work as an external modem connected through a Serial or a USB cable to your PC. You don't have to pay for the Internet Bandwidth and you can get a download bandwidth of about 7-8 Kbps though the Relaince people promise about 100 Kbps. They have about 144 Kbps for the network which is to be shared by many users. That's why I believe that we can get more bandwidth around night time or so. Though till now the Data Cables are not available in Ranchi and according to Reliance they will be available in about a month. The catch here is that the data cable costs about Rs. 1200. But I think this will be a better investment for people who need more bandwidth. For people using Windows they get a CD along with the drivers. And Linux users would have to wait for some more time for instructions and stuff. All this I have found out from LIH mailing list after posting my query on LIH with Prof. Prabhat Ranjan from DA-IICT answering most of my queries.
