I was trying to setup RH 8.0 on one of my friends' machine : athlon 2000+, a7n266vm, 256 mb ram (32mb allocated to graphics) etc. The problem is that the Xserver crashes. At first i thought this might be a cpu problem and passed parameters like mem=nopentium, etc at the boot: prompt. This didn't help. I suspect that the problem actually lies in Xserver not being able to handle the integrated graphics. Other than the text mode installation (which i haven't had the time to try out yet), is their anything else i can do to get the Xserver to run ? And once i get linux installed, will i have to face the same problem of unstable Xserver? I have downloaded the nvidia driver for nforce. Will i be able to use the linux dd (driver disk option) to get the install proggy to use that driver for Xserver ?
Does mandrake face the same problems ? I remember somebody posted something about running mandrake on a7n266vm a few days back. Does the mandrake installer have any problems with the nforce chipset ? -- Soumyadip Modak RCCIIT [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the body "unsubscribe ilug-cal" and an empty subject line.
