Respected members, This is Subhobroto Sinha with a request for SuSE Linux Professional 8.1 Disc 4. The reason for this request is that I obtained the 8 CD Set from Anindya da, who in turn had procured them from Sumeet da.
However, it seems that they overlooked that they had made two copies of the original Disc 3, and named one Disc 3 and the other Disc 4 ! So, in effect, the CD Set with Anindya da has both CD 3 and 4 as actually copies of Disc 3 itself ! If anybody has the correct Disc 4, (labelled SU810.004), please contact me or Anindya da offline. It will be very helpful if you did. I do not want to bother Sumeet da now, as he is really busy with his exams (and I have already pestered him too much the last few days !). I wish Sumeet da the best for his exams (though perhaps he's at Pune by now, giving his best at the papers). Besides requesting for the SuSE disc 4, I would also like to know if anyone is aware if the _original_ Knoppix 3.2 (NOT the hacked version that LFY is distributing) is available in Kolkata ? I would like to know if anyone who might have a copy is willing to share. I am now busy spreading Linux awareness among my friends, and think that Knoppix 3.2 might make a better impression than 3.1, as it might be having less compatibility problems and MORE stuff ? (You see, Knoppix 3.1 does NOT interface well with the Intel 845, and most of my friends have the 845GL) In the meantime, I developed a program called "MD5SumCV", which can verify the MD5 Sums of the files distributed on SuSE CDROMs with precalculated values put by SusE in files called 'MD5Sums' - just in case you wanted to see if your SuSE discs are OK ! If you are interested, do contact me offline for the source(ANSI C++, 3 KB) AND the program(Win32, 6 KB). Cheerio Subhobroto Sinha PS: Does anybody have a copy of Linus Torvald's famous email requesting people to check out his OS which ".. resembles Minix almost" ? Please do send it to me.
