I think this is a good suggestion. It makes a lot of sense, especially
when there are newbies who come to the meet by just looking at the
posting on the site and are not m/l members.

Yeah post the "Call for talks" immediately after the meet.

Fair call.

Bingo !! I think you've hit the nail on the head here, Indra'da. It
really makes sense to have a couple or more guys handling the meeting
coordination. That way responsibilities are shared and so is the
criticism and the accolades.

I think this, [5] & [6] is a bit too demanding. I know, this must be
with point [1] in perspective, but then again it is difficult to ask a
guy to prepare an informal talk for an informal meet to stick to such
norms. I know the meeting should have proper content, but I also think a
rule of this nature is:-
a) Difficult (read "almost impossible") to implement
b) Slightly against the informal nature of the group.

Yes. This is something which even I think of, from time to time. There
is a need to identify a core group which should have a **loosely knit
structure**. The reason why I suggest this be loosely knit is, that way
there are no ego hassles and people concentrate on just the goal(s) on
hand. It also avoids formalities that are an absolute "no, no" in a
volunteer driven effort like ours. While we do need to eliminate a
bureaucratic structure, we certainly do need to single out the people
with the kind of nervous energy u speak of. Just identify the guys
everyone feels are enthusiastic enough to take up responsibility
whenever required and stop there. This would help identifying which
people will step up themselves when there happens to be a responsibility
to take up.

LOL. Turnout of 50 is a realistic enough figure to aim for though,
considering our new venue.
