it may be, here is the agenda & other details for our LUG meeting of August 
2003

Computer Science & Engg Dept of Jadavpur University.

In all possiblity we will be allowed to use Amitava Dey Seminar Hall (our 
venue from last time) or a classroom in lieu of that, but I am highly hopeful 
that the hall will work out.

TIMINGS

6 PM to 8 PM 

We will start off this time on time, so please try to reach the venue by 5:45.


MEETING AGENDA:

[1] Introduction to Logical Volume Manager by Arijit Mazumdar

Duration: 1 hr.

Abstract: The talk is about Logical Volume Manager, a relatively new tool to 
effectively manage and administer block devices (typically harddisks) and 
partitions. 

A platform independent conceptual discussion will follow a linux specific 
discussion on implementation and administration with potential advantages. A 
short discussion on distro specific issues may follow. 

[2] Sayamindu Dasgupta (provided he is free enuf to turn up for the meeting) 
will speak on the latest GNOME release and how to get & build it from source 
-- the gotchas and pitfalls.

[3] Introducing LinuxThek (GLT) programme as part of Linux Outreach Program

By Indranil Das Gupta

Duration: 15 - 20 minutes

Abstract: Outline of the plan on how to spread GNU/Linux to our individual 
neighbourhoods. Initiatives taken so far and call of others to come forward 
and take this ahead.


[4] Regular BOF Session

A 30 min Birds-of-feather session between members to yawk, grumble and/or gush 
over their individual likes/pet peeves etc. etc. etc. :-)
