Hi,

Can anybody absolve me from my predicament ??

I just installed Red Hat 9 from the installation disks
onto my spare old hard disk: 4.1 GB Quantum Fireball
CR 4.3A.

The installation detected my hard drive correctly and
the installation was complete withot a hitch. It was
reassuring to find the light beneath the hard disk glow
intermittently!)

However, after the installation, the system would not
boot.
I checked the BIOS and found that the BIOS had not
detected the hard disk at all.

I then removed the old hard disk and reconnected in
exactly the same way (as master) my
existing samsung hard disk which had win xp, restarted
the computer and sure enough, the BIOS had detected the
samsung hard disk correctly.

Can anybody suggest to me the source of the problem and
any possible solution?

MY PC CONFIGURATION:

Intel P4 2.4Ghz 800 Mhz Bus
Intel 865GBF mobo with 865G chipset
BIOS: latest BIOS P09 for the 865GBF mobo from Intel
Hard disk giving problems: 4.1 GB Quantum Fireball CR 4.3A.
existing hard disk: 80 GB Samsung SP8004H PUMA.

P.S. I had enquired about Partition Magic in an earlier mail as I was thinking of
installing Linux onto the original hard disk; however upon Mr Jayabrata Bhattacharya's
suggestion am trying to see whther I can install onto a spare hard disk by myself..

BTW:
SHUBHO BIJOYA TO ALL OF YOU.
