Translucent is really more of 'nice to look at,
impossible to use'. End up turning that off after
getting terrible headaches due to unreadable text.
However the code driving true alpha channels on X
would be a nice thing to have, would be useful in
other windowing operations.

Alpha blended shadows on the other hand, if rendered
fast enough, make for a beautiful desktop.
