Usually this happens when you have a botched up installation of shared-
mime info and/or gnome-vfs. Download a stable version of shared mime
infor from http://www.freedesktop.org/Software/shared-mime-info and
install it into your $PREFIX. If that does not work try updating your
gnome-vfs. Also, assuming that you are using jhbuild - how are you
starting up GNOME?
