Its a java based smtp server. As a developer its much easier to deal with than sendmail.

and why is that so ? Which public SMTP server are you
using ? I've used hotpop and gmx and they are pretty
good and i've never experienced the delays that you're

yes. You can setup sendmail/postfix/exim on your
machine but that would hardly solve the problem. Your
IP address would be the problem here. Most mail
servers on the net refuse to accept mail from known
dial up IP pools. Yahoo will, for example, accept the
mail and put it in the bulk mail folder.

If you reeeeaaaalllllyyyy wanna write your own SMTP
server, get the required RFC and learn a some socket
programming though I still don't think that would
solve your problem.
