Hi Mandar, Kaushik, Indranil, and the list:

Thank you for the notes and the insights. I followed
Mandar's suggestions, and added "/usr/local/lib" to the
/etc/ld.so.conf file as the superuser. And then tried
installation of refdb using "rpm -ivh --nodeps". This
time the message was that it was already installed ! Go
figure!
In any case, the program now seems to work, but I am
still learning to use it, and haven't yet been able to
find the refdb examples directory, in fact I cannot
locate the refdb directory at all.
