Hello,
I want to know more about that, and also about Novell's approach.

Ok, ppl... everyone pipe down! Enuf b/w wasted on this topic... period!
henceforth this a dead thread... and Subhobrata... can you cut back on the
impassioned prose in future... we all know of your leanings in the matter.. but
still do try in future.

As a matter of fact, Ranjeet (CCed above) of Onward Novell has been after my
life asking me to organise some sort of demonstration of by SuSE/Ximian/Novell
offerings to the ILUG-Cal members.

In fact, Novell is very eager to reach out to the community and send out the CDs
and updates to LUG members, for their personal use and evaluation.

Prakash/Ranjeet: Correct me and/or add your inputs.

NOTE: If you guys' novell.com addresses are not subscribed, please direct a CC
copy of your replies to me so that I can bounce it to the list.

cheers,
ListAdmin.

PS> Yeah! this *IS* a top-post ;-)

Yes ,

particularly when I am the source of this. One more fact is that SuSE offers
all there software
for free download in binary as well as source if you download them as
individual package. They only do not provide iso images of the CDs. But then
also it is perfectly alright to copy and distribute the CDs. The problem
comes only for a small amount of software like MainActor Video Studio, which
is not GPL'ed. So it doesn't matter whether Novell would be happy or not. And
in the light of the facts that after the aquisition of SuSE by Novell YAST
has been made GPLed, it does'nt seem that Novell is against the spirit of
Open Source sharing.
