Dear Mandar, Actually there are quite a few no. of options for P4 chipsets with agp slot. External sound is possible with all chipsets (I mean motherboards) as soundcards are generally PCI cards and every motherboard has PCI slots. In that case you have to disable the on board sound from bios. There are chipsets from Intel as well as VIA. 865 and 875 are two to name a few. www.anandtech.com is a good hardware review site. Check out there motherboard review section. You will have a good idea not only about the performances about the various chipsets for P4 that comes with agp capabilities but also which make (like Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, DFI etc.) is better in making motherboards.
