We shall call it a Linux <BENGALI>adda</BENGALI>
rather
than a Linux meeting.
I was the first to reach the place and waited till
half an hour
before J.P.M. and Mahukar came in. Arijit arrived a
short while after. Arijit told he could have arranged
the J.U chemical department hall but that was quite
unnecessary for 4 people.

Although there was no formal lecture or presentation,
the discussion we had was quite useful to all of us.
Its not possible to elaborate much on each topic we
discussed, since it was just like an adda as I said
earlier.

The following topics were covered:

Gentto: How to install and upgrade. - by Arijit
Its probably the closest distribution to "Linux From
Scratch".
You do everything with simple commands like
ebuild, emerge, search, etc.
(please elaborate or correct if I am wrong)

Philips arm processor - development on Linux platform.
- by J.P. Mathew
J.P. brought a sample arm processor and showed us.
He said how he is using gcc and other gnu/linux tools
to develop software for arm processor
(please elaborate or correct if I am wrong)

RFI: Radio Frequency Identification and its uses (off
topic) - Arijit

Live pen drive Linux distribution: - puppy linux and
others. - by Saugata
Just like live CDs some live pendrive distributions
are coming up.
Its potentially very powerfull since pen drives are
always rewritable. With modern motherboards supporting
the "boot from usb" option, imagine carrying a live
pen drive linux distribution
thats also writable.

Other topics: Latex, Eclipse, LTSP, AMD64, Broadband
in India, etc, etc.

Last but NOT THE LEAST - We discussed how to arrange
future meetings.
The number participants in the meeting was of a little
concern
and we hope to have more participants in future
meetings.
