Yep the hard disk is a Seagate one. Is there any special utility for
Seagate drives for Linux ???
Re: the "DMA Auto" part, I forgot to mention, there are only 2 DMA
settings in the BIOS "Auto" and "Disabled"

The manufacturer's utilities are all standalone...make a bootable cd. If
you have a maxtor's drive too...you can get your drive tested to factory
standards. 'Auto' should mean atleast four DMA settings for your drive.
