Did you try to boot into the Linux installation using the rescue mode
and as root, typing:

#grub-install /dev/hdc

Please ensure your grub.conf is in order before trying this. 
If you want to use LILO, check lilo.conf to see that it is in order and
then as root run :
#lilo
