Mr. Goutam Baul,
As per your email, "CESC (the 100 years old power utility serving around 17
million
consumers)" use linux in "Various Departmental applications in the field of
Power Generation and Distribution". But as I know The Generating stations are
all windows based, specially Cossipore(NCGS) and Budge Budge(BBGS). Isn't it?
Even NCGS use MS-Access to maintain database and BBGS use MS-SQLServer for
database.

Dear Anirban,

We at CESC (the 100 years old power utility serving around 17 million
consumers) are using Linux in the following areas:

1) Web services (our web site contains 36 months billing data of 17 million
consumers in MySQL database)
2) Intranet Services
3) Email Services
4) Various Departmental applications in the field of Power Generation and
Distribution
5) Networking services like DNS, DHCP, Firewall Etc.

I also know that Exide is using Linux for deployment of Oracle ERP
solutions.

Hope this helps!

Goutam
