Hello,
I think the best way to proceed with the syllabus question would be to

1. Form a new page and a new list for 'Curriculum Development with Open Source Components.'

2. There are lots of possible courses : B.Tech, B.E., M.Sc (integrated), B.Sc (Comp.Sci), MCA, BCA, B.Tech (M$), *(M$-Sun) and others. It has to course specific. It is important to develop preliminary course designs with the help of a suitable panel.

3. Develop the site with sufficient links to the available resources. Material on different aspects of the course design are ofcourse essential.

4. Initiate a nation-wide 'time-bound' (30 days) debate on the proposed curriculum involving academics and others involved in open-source. It will help in getting the views of these people on different specific aspects of comp.sci as well.

5. Finalize the curriculum.

My views on the curriculum... will send later.

If the book says that a broken black box does this and that, then you do that to it.
