Hello Friends

Some days back i reported in this list how my installation
of FC3 flopped in my machine with some problems in the function
of probing hd-geometry on the second hd of my machine.

The same thing happened with MS-W fdisk too. When i first
partitioned and formatted the hd in Windows, it was showing
33GB in place of 40GB, which is its size. Anyway, i did not
mind when SuSE reported 40GB and i was working on this hd for
the last one year or so, never facing any problem. But, the
FC3 reported problem on this hd. And today, with the PCQ Debian
DVD i booted my machine. And this too showed my second hd as
33GB.

Though, still, i have no problem in my SuSE. In fact the
mail i am sending is from the system on this hd, my '/home' is
on /dev/hdb8 and '/usr' on /dev/hdb9. Any problem in these
partions would obviously lead to major calamities.

I am pasting here results of 'fdisk -l' and 'sfdisk -l' on
this hd. If you people can squeeze out something more
from them.

This is the result of 'fdisk -l' on my second hd:

Disk /dev/hdb: 40.0 GB, 40060403712 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 4870 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hdb1 1 1959 15735636 c Win95 FAT32 (LBA)
/dev/hdb2 * 1960 4870 23382607+ f Win95 Ext'd (LBA)
/dev/hdb5 1960 1972 104391 83 Linux
/dev/hdb6 1973 2004 257008+ 82 Linux swap
/dev/hdb7 2005 2592 4723078+ 83 Linux
/dev/hdb8 2593 4159 12586896 83 Linux
/dev/hdb9 4160 4870 5711076 83 Linux

And, this is the result of 'sfdisk -l' on my second hd:

Disk /dev/hdb: 4870 cylinders, 255 heads, 63 sectors/track
Units = cylinders of 8225280 bytes, blocks of 1024 bytes, counting from 0

/dev/hdb2 * 1959 4869 2911 23382607+ f Win95 Ext'd (LBA)
/dev/hdb3 0 - 0 0 0 Empty
