ONE use of centrally located meeting space for compass participation (suggested by pk .. compass office's conference room near the crossing of theatre road and rawdon street, near cookie jar) for no charge for compass2005 participation of ilug-cal TWO starting an initiative to call foreign experts .. by involving many other lugs all over india .. he could land at calcutta .. give a talk at compass2005 .. go to bhubneshwar, hyderabad, chenna, bangalore, kerala (tourism), goa, pune, mumbai ( and maybe from there to agra .. taj .. delhi ) .. the major cost being the to and fro air fare from europe (linus torvalds, etc are near there) .. this would be shared by participating lugs .. and each lug would arrange for the air tkt for arrival to their city from the last city .. its do-able .. attemptable .. might happen too ! THREE requesting atul chitnis to provide an alternate speaker since he might be visiting cebit, during that time FOUR content of particpation was discussed too .. inter alia - showing user level things (very elementary desktop users) showing middle level things .. SOHO users showing super expert level things (dhcp, servers, etc) FIVE seminar topics possibilities - talk on gui vs shell talk on localisation talk on beyond windows capabilities of linux open house q&a session if a panel of experts can be put together arranging for talks by rh (sankarsan/tirthankar mitra's help needed) arranging for talks by others too (suse, mandrake ?) arranging for talks for developers (heavy attendance expected which might even fund the experts from abroad) SIX other items - moving WBUT with an idea of making a group along with other institutions .. and making a presence in compass2005 with the objective of disseminating info about their activities and for this end, requesting compass jointly for stall space (or sharing the cost, booking stalls, and allowing ilug-cal to be there too) SEVEN moving wb.gov (it already is a 'partner-in-progress' with compass for westbengal) to also participate and help ilug-cal who is surely helping wb.gov in some ways or the other (webel may be included .. this was not discussed) .. in which case wb.gov would move compass for stalls/space .. and allow ilug-cal to be there in their stall EIGHT showing our stall over internet .. thru yahoo .. using game .. and other s/w for enabling webcam based real time showing of whatever's going on at our place to ALL the lugs ..
