Dear Group, I've installed The Server Version of Fedore Core 3,on my computer ( Intel P-IV 3.0 GHz HT, Intel DV915 GAG MainBoard, 160 GB SATA Seagate Barracuda HDD) successfully, but my Modem isn't detected! I've installed the Modem Driver, but with the Following Message:-
"Red Nash( Fedora Core) cant install the following rpm
module <hsflinmodem-4.6.0.0.1.i586.rpm due to the
following reason - The driver for device /dev/modem doesnt
support SMP(Symmetric Multi-Processing),so if U are
using A Virtual Processor, please disable The Feature
and try installing the RPM package!!!Please Restart
the computer and try re-installing the driver "
However, after restarting the system and turning Hyper-Threading off, when I try to install the package after uninstalling it, the Modem is still not detected although the message appears at the ~ prompt :-
"Package hsflinmodem-4.6.0.0.1.i586.rpm succeslly installed! Please restart the system and Kudzu shall detect your changed Hardware Settings!"
But unfortunately, the Modem(/dev/modem) still doesnt respond even after restarting the system! I've searched the Internet for Driver Update for my Modem( Model No.: D -Link Internal 56kbps V.92 Modem : DFM-560IS+++ )! Can someone suggest what's needed to be done to make the Modem work? (It works well with Red Hat 8.0, Mandrake-9.1 , Red Hat 9.0, SuSE 9.1, Windows 2003 Server, Windows XP-Professional & Windows 2000 Advanced Server!)
Hoping for an early reply, with regards, Deepesh Basu.
which device.... /dev/? is probably your problem. A smlink should suffice.
