Those who havent seen todays crowd at
the AMAR PC stall its impossible to describe.
Crowd is usually good and welcoming, but if its like a
crowded private bus in office time-kolkata then thats
something else.
Due to their add on "Free PC" people started queing up
in front of the stall right from 2 pm.
At first I tried to install Fedora on one of the PCs
But even standing in front of a PC was impossible.
Same experience with Jayabraja
You get automatically pushed out by the crowd. Not to
mention
that there was no chair and all chairs had to be moved
out
except very few.
For 4 hours me and Jayabrata stood helplessly in front
of
the stall thinking whether we should back out.
After 6 pm, came Arijit and Soumadip. After discussing
for a while we finally wanted to have a go and bravely
entered the stall.
Started installing SUSE in one of the machines (of
course standing)
After the crowed became thinner at about 7 pm.
Soumadip started installing
Fedora 3 on another machine. At the end of the day
we could load 2 machines with Linux.
About Linux queries: We were inside the stall for
about 2 and half hours
and got only 2 Linux related query.
Fedora is loaded with Bangla and Hindi desktop. If
someone
logs in with user/password as bangla/bangla he will
get a bangla desktop.
similarly for hindi/hindi and english/english.
Tomorrow we would be short of volunteers. Ony
Jayabrata has confirmed
that he is coming. Can anyone please come and help
Jayabrata tomorrow ?

Triranjan and the WBUT team said they would come from
Tuesday.
