Where are other of ilug-cal members? Please come at Book Fair? We urgently need you all. Last day (3rd Feb) nobody was there to demonstrate FreeDuc. People came to it, use it and leave it, without getting any information about Linux. I reached there around 3-3:30PM (and was there till the end) and found that all machines was locked. I login both machine FreeDuc and FC3 (the 3rd machine again start automatically rebooting each time it is switched on), and started with FC3. After a few time Triranjan came and he help ilug-cal a lot in that day also, by giving Linux informations to people. Then came R.V.K. with a very cute Linux (Damn Small Linux) and started it on the problematic machine, and this time it runs very good without any rebooting. Mr. R.V.K. was there almost till the end. DSLinux attracts people very much for its good interface, so also FreeDuc - but there was nobody to demonstrate it. Yesterday some people asked AmarPC (remember not ILUG-CAL) that "AmarPC-te Linux load hobe ki?" (What about Linux on AmarPC, will it run on AmarPC?). I think it will be a great news for ILUG-CAL and Linux community. A lot of people came after 7:30, who want to buy AmarPC, and don't know about computer very much. They all have no idea about licensing cost of windows, which AamarPC will install on their machine. After they realize the licensing fee, they clarify it with AmarPC, and then return again to us (ILUG-CAL) and want to know more about Linux, how can they get it, install it, etc. They all are well aware about the fact that Windows are very popular for crashing, virus infection, no security (yes no security feature as they told me that someone can delete some other's file/document without openint it), poor speed (the complain about the windowsXP), and the great tool "reboot", if there are any problem. Now they know that they can use Linux the free OS, which is almost free from these problems.I don't know, what they will use after they buy a PC, but we try to believe on Linux. I left the stall at 8:15PM & back to home. Thanks a lot to Triranjan (and also other WBUT students) & Mr. R.V.K. for being there, else it is really very tough for a single person (like me) to handle the crowd.
What about today? I dont know about myself. If anyone give me a entry-pass for RMS at kolkata, then I will be there(someone assure me, that (s)he will try for extra entry-pass), else I will be on BF. Still I have classes on evening 6PM, but I will try to be present at the stall till the end as soon I reach there. It is hard for me, to go there early, very sorry for that. Today's newspaper I saw that "Cactus" will come to AmarPC. So from experience of the Shilajit day, we have to be there till Cactus is absent. So, please come lug members, you have to (I mean you can) stay there till there evening and next if you wish you can be there for Cactus.
