I am using an cheap HP 2200C USB scanner with 2.4 kernel ( ie with scanner module ) and
with 2.6 kernel ( ie with libusb ) with complete success .
as far as i understand HP 2300C uses the same chip & design and should be compatible
don't know about 2400 though -- u can obtain the 2200C & 2300C models (bit old but
very good ) from any kolkata dealer who has low sales volume and a bad habit of stocking
up :-) .
