definitely these *light* desktops like XFCE, blackbox etc. take less time to
come up than KDE and GNOME. specially XFCE is very god in terms of *quick*
loading. regarding application loading like KMail, xmms *I fell* there is a
little faster loading. now KMail is also a huge application. I have found
*sylpheed-claws* email client based on Gtk. this mail client come-up
on-the-fly and technically is the next-generation mail client with clamav and
spammassin plugin, folder pre-processing and post-processing rules, separate
POP filter mechanism (size-limit) for every individual account and much much
more. but its look is not so attractive like KMail, also doesn't support
moving a mail from one folder to another by dragging. html composing is also
not possible where KMail has this facility now a days.
