hi,

in linux pressing [crtl+alt+del] restart the machine. this can be disabled from /etc/inittab. but is it possible to disable this option for all user *except root* ?

if possible pls let me know.

If you mean that the computer will find out from the touch of the fingers who is root and who is not, then it can't be done.

If, on the other hand, you don't mind entering root's password as the way of verifying identity, then merely login as root and run shutdown.
