Yes, that's why I think a switch is a good idea. A 'hub' may be
cheaper though. From what I understand, a hub and switch do
practically the same thing, but a switch is more robust and has more
in the way of error recovery.

Yes, I will try firestarter.

This is on the top of my list now. Given my experience with web
browsing on my Linux Box so far, I think the gain in NS lookup time
will be significant.
