mplayer cann't play vcds in its native installation. i remember doing a 
lot of downloading from freshrpms.net to activate it on FC2. just google 
for some vcd playing add on over mpalyer. facing the same problem in my 
recent sarge installation. working with xine. totem is also failing ! will 
need some time to fix them.
