OK. now the splash comes -;) BUT after that when booting is started monitor
becomes *completely blank* -;((((

frame-buffer plays a vital role in showing splash. in my debian *dmesg|grep
vesafb* shows
      vesafb: probe of vesafb0 failed with error -6
but in case of lnx-bbc the same command provides a lot of information regarding
fb means lnx-bbc could use the fb device. even during installation (with 2.4
kernel) debian cd shows splash. how can I active the fb in debian ? I have
compiled 2.6.10 kernel with vesafb, vga 16 support.

here is the info about on board vga

$ lspci|grep VGA
0000:01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8378 [S3
UniChrome] Integrated Video (rev 01)
