We know that many of you have planned some really great events, and we'd like to hear about them all! Please stop by the following URL to submit your report after your event concludes: http://softwarefreedomday.org/index.php?option=com_mosforms&mosform=3 I've also forwarded a message from Henrik below, because not all of you received it earlier. We here at Software Freedom International wish all of you the best of luck in your events tomorrow. Sincerely, The SFI Board - ----- Forwarded message from Henrik Nilsen Omma <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> ----- From: Henrik Nilsen Omma <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Fri, 09 Sep 2005 15:29:42 +0100 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: SFD gallery and forum details Hello SFD Teams! Only a few hours to go! I hope your preparations are going well. I think most teams got the materials they requested, though there have been a few hurdles with customs or bad addresses (my fault ...). I've made some last minute changes to the web infrastructure to make it more useful for our target audience who we will be asking to visit sfd05.org. Most importantly, I've set up a new forum. The drawback is that it's not integrated with the website Mambo CMS so you will all have to register again if you want to use it (takes 20 seconds; no emailing required). The advantage is that it's a much more powerful and more stable forum (good old phpBB); the Mambo-based one was frankly a bit rubbish, and wasn't used all that much. Now that we are inviting fresh users onto the site we have to put our best foot forward :) It's also on a separate server, so we should be able to cope better with the traffic. Click on the link at sfd05.org as usual or go to the direct link: http://www.sf-day.org/forum/ I've also made a few changes to the gallery, most notably splitting it up into 2004 and 2005 sections. I've set up a standard user (called 'teamupload') that you can use to upload images from your event. It's not ideal for us all to be using the same user ID, so please email me and I'll set up a specific user for your team with more appropriate permissions (I can also set up an empty gallery section for you if you want). Follow these directions to create a team-gallery and upload pictures: * Log in at: http://www.sf-day.org/gallery/admin.php * with user name 'teamupload' password 'simple_pw' (or one that I make for you) * Click on 'Galleries' on the top menu. * in the 'SFD 2005 Events' section click 'New sub-gallery' * Type in the name your your team as the gallery Identifier * After the gallery has been created click 'New image' making sure that you are inside the newly created gallery * After you've added some pictures go to 'edit gallery' to select one of them as the thumbnail I've added a few images to the 2005 gallery just to get the structure established. The pictures can be viewed at: http://softwarefreedomday.org/gallery/ as before. I hope everyone enjoys their day :) I look forward to seeing pictures and reading reports from the events! Whether or not you've managed to get an outreach event going this year, please stop by the forum or the IRC channel (#sfd on irc.freenode.net) to meet other SFD people and to welcome members of the public and help answer questions. I'll be available on email and #sfd if there are some urgent infrastructure issues that need taking care of.
