Software Freedom Day 2005 : A report form ilug-bwn co-ordinator For more detailed report please visit http://www.ilug-bwn.org/exponent/index.php?section=40 - ----------------------------------------------------- Dear LUG members, My heartiest welcome to all of you on the eve of Software Freedom Day 2005. Also my acknowledgement towards FN, RMS, LT and Oman on this auspecious occation. I, Sumit Ranjan Das, Co-ordinator of ilug-bwn is presenting a comprehensive report of the events observer today 10th Sept, 2005 upto 4:00 PM. This was a very beautiful day starting with a cloudy morning, I started to manage sometime in making some presentation material for SFD 2005. Host was Burdwan Institute of Mangament Science, a local Engg. college under Burdwan University. Anindya was also busy with making some other presentation material for the same event. Meanwhile he also rang me to make a plan to meet with other LUG members at BIMS college for the same event. We arrived at the college campus at sharp 11AM. Their faculties are kind enough to welcome us as a representative of ilug-bwn and presenter of SFD 2005 event. Before starting the actual presentation we also met together with all the faculties of BIMS, to have a background behind SFD 2005, the need and aspect. Trust me at the same time we had to give some consultancy in using GNU/Linux software at their Lab. Meanwhile Amit, one member of our ilug-bwn group manage to print some materials stating "FREE SOFTWARE" for the disribution of students and also make an arrangement for the presentation at their Lab y copying presentation materials and making sitting arrangements. At 11:45AM just after our introduction, Anindya started his SFD 2005 presentation just addressing all the students with a controvercial term "HAKERS". with a tremendous support from students community Anindya continued his presentation upto 12:45PM -- a complete hour. As amtter of fact no students felt bore during this period. After 12:45, I started my presentation with a explanation of controvercial term "HACKERS" started by Anindya. Also distinguished differences between Hackers and Crackers. After it, described Copyright and CopyLeft. Ending with a necessity of communal development, LUG community and idea of FLOSS developments. Students of BIMS acted so nicely, that everybody is interested to join the open source developers community at any cost. I realised the fact how a little clarification of open source communism starts accelerating. The events end with the Free GNU/Linux CD / Distro distribution, thanks to the ubuntu developers. All the present students (List will be available at the ilug-bwn website http://www.ilug-bwn.org/exponent/ very soon) requested us to make them as a part of ilug-bwn and instantly they are subscribed to our mailing-list. Those who have no email id, will be given free gmail id. Both Anindya's and my Presentation material as well as FREE SOFTWARE DEFINITION will be available for download at our ilug-bwn website from tomorrow. Until then , goodbye.... -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Thunderbird - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFDIt2dQsgTNm4Jvc4RAsxpAJ9YKyS+w4vKS5S5yxwJJL9sARbWdACcCunS Evbrm8AoyiTsZH0o+liXVIY= =ZJ1i -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the body "unsubscribe ilug-cal" and an empty subject line.
