Dear members, These last couple of weeks has seen our list go up in flames. People have complained, counter-complained, listed their achievements, there has been name calling and vicious personal attacks (sometimes using false allegations).
In between things had looked as if they would settle down, but no, some people had to make sure that does not happen. All this mayhem for what? And by whom? Where are the constructive ideas? where is the initiative? Sure some have offered to help, even alternative platforms as Soumyadip has done. Where is the response to that, apart from a few mumbled "we need to hold meetings"?? Or is it that the rampant cribbing and name calling on list driven off the very people who the are the real beneficiaries of the LUG. Some have approached me in private asking why I haven't reacted so far, even in my own defence and thrown certain members off the list. Well, my answer is that I'm not against healthy debate, including scathing criticism of my performance as the listadmin or simply as a member of ILUG-Cal, rather I welcome it. Of course, I approved every single of these mails through (except one from Sharninder, for which I notified him in private). I did this not for the fact that doing otherwise would fan the argument that voices in the LUG are being selectively throttled, rather it was my personal hope that this churn would lead to new people constructively coming to the fore-front. I do not see that happening, only hate-mongering and inappropriate expletives and name calling. THIS HAS TO STOP RIGHT ***NOW***! PERIOD! As of now, I'll not be allowing any more flames of this nature to go through. I'll only allow postings which draw a path away from this madness, If I sniff even a whiff of a snide remark in any posting, it will get blocked. A reply to flame will also get blocked. This goes out for every one. I'm sorry that I have to do this, but as much as I may dislike it, my hand is being forced here. My apologies to all those members who have been deeply bothered at the turn of things.
