The RS480M2 motherboard you are using is loaded with a ATI SATA controller, 
which any kernel prior to 2.6.11 will fail to detect. There are multiple ways 
to do it. If you stick to FEDORA then put a PATA drive, install FEDORA..upgrade 
the kernel and the SATA drive will get detected. Otherwise use something like 
SuSE 9.3 or Gentoo 2005.1. It will detct the SATA controller out of the box. 
You can contact Anirban (of the mailing list) for SuSE 9.3 DVD. I have the DVD 
but do not have a DVD writer.

 Also the new drivers at freedesktop.org support the ATI 9600 onboard graphics 
fully. (Do not use the proprietory driver provided by ATI in any case)
