Not at all slow... mandrake 10.1 runs well on my spare PC with that
much ram.
Best is slackware...better than debian, though they have optimised
the kde well. You can always cut down on effects in kde too.
Only KDE is OK with 256MB RAM. But if U r running it with say
openoffice+mail/evolution+gaim then the the disk thrashing (i.e
virtual memory) will kick-in. I would rather have a light weight WM
rather than having light weight application.
I would love to have 1GB RAM for that matter: since that is not the case
I shall have to settle for a bit slower speed.
Does any body in the list have kubuntu/ mepis/ kanotix? I guess these
distros will serve my purpose. icewm can be added later.
