=======================================
Dear list,
I may draw the attention of those of you
* Running Linux GUI with OLD H/W (PI or so) and not happy with speed.
or
* Have latest H/W but always eager to get more & more speed.
Since long I have been working on a personal project. My aim is to
design a Linux box which can still run HAPPILY & PROUDLY with PI 266MHz+32MB
and definitely with the latest S/W. No compromise with the S/W features.
After having the KDE/GNOME experience *just a GUI* is not enough for me.
After flipping through a lots of Linux tools I have finally settled down
some individual tools which are
LIGHTER + SPEEDY + GRAPHICALLY APPEALING + FEATURE PACKED.
Below are the details
H/W resources I have used --> PI 266MHz+32MB+on board cache 256KB+4.3GB HDD+
PCI VGA + YAMAHA 724F PCI SOUND CARD
Running Linux GUI SuperFast with OLD H/W [PART-I]

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
*Here you can design a FAST Good Looking Desktop
*Decorate the Desktop with eye candy but useful FAST tools
*FAST tools to manage H/W, printer spooler etc
*Introduction to GkRellm & its applications
Running Linux GUI SuperFast with OLD H/W [PART-II]
http://jbakshi.50webs.com/PART-II/INDEX.html
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
*SPEEDY tools for every day applications.
* Making an almost complete Linux box which is
FAST & supports GUI
Please note to get SPEED ( and no compromise with feature ) I have avoided
KDE/GNOME applications; though a user
can use the KDE/GNOME S/W with the mentioned Linux Box. If you are interested
to follow the project, please remember that there is nothing integrated (like
KDE/GNOME) but the entire project work is highly modular and you have to work
with as well as know all the individual programs. This demands Patience.
