Hello everyone,
The iLug-Cal Meeting of Saturday, March 4th at Barrista, Park Street
from 6:00pm to 7:30 pm, was attended by the following members (pardon
me, if I misspelled someone's name)

1. Soumyanath Chatterjee
2. Nazmunnisa
3. Prashant Verma
4. A. Mani
5. Indranil Das Gupta
6. Dipankar Das
7. Surendra Singhi

Since, I am writing the summary, it will have my bias. If I have
misunderstood something or misrepresented something or was factually
incorrect then please correct it.

Also, I am introducing the idea of Champions (not discussed with
anyone) in this mail, from my past experience with other open source
communities. A Champion as the word suggests will be the torch bearer
of an idea or primarily responsible for its completion, his
responsibilities will include coordinating the activities required for
the task, communicating with other members, submitting proposals,
explaining things to the proletariat, etc. ultimately ensuring the
goal is successfully achieved. The champion will be helped by Knights :)

If the above sounds silly, then I am open to suggestion/discussion.

The decisions which were taken at the meeting are following:

1. Getting iLug-cal registered as a cooperative, at the municipality
or state level. The constitution/MOA of iLug-Delhi will be used as a
model. Open a bank account.
Champion - Soumyanath Chatterjee, Knights - Indranil Das Gupta, Prashant
Verma

2. Following up on WBUT venue.
Champion - Nazmunnisa, Probable Knight - Indranil Das Gupta

3. Website face-lift and updation. Adding option of customizable
themes.
Champion - A. Mani, Knights - Any volunteers?

4. Meet on first Saturday of every month, preferably sharp at 6:00pm.

Ideas/future activities

1. Catch 'em Young - Getting different schools involved in using Linux
in their curricula, remove FUD. Both Dipankar da, and Indranil da had
some ideas and contacts in various schools which will can help in this
regard. The management could be persuaded, as migration to Linux will
result in cost savings. Students can be shown the array of things
which Linux and Open Source makes easy.
(main stumbling block will be incentivising the teachers to accept
the change)

Champion - Dipankar Das, Knights - Indranil Das Gupta, other volunteers?

2. Linux Training for Hardware vendors and technicians. Go through some
training institutes, and help them conduct Linux courses, with
potential iLug-Cal certification. Maintain and promote a list of iLug
cal recommended Hardware Vendors, etc.

Champions - Indranil Das Gupta and Prashant Verma. Knight - Dipankar Das

3. Spread information and awareness about iLug-Cal and in colleges such
as
Jadavpur, Shibpur, in other schools, colleges, and elsewhere.
Champions - Soumyanath Chatterjee and Surendra Singhi, Knights - Each
and every member of iLug-Cal

Extra: And several other things.

Cheers.
