I just read about a package called bash-completion
To install, on Fedora 10,  do:
yum install bash-completion

I understand that it's available for Ubuntu too:
apt-get install bash-completion

After that, start bash shell and you can have auto-completion for commands like yum, svn, sudo etc. etc.
You've to try it to understand. It's cool..
