Hello john thomas,

"can you tell me from where can i get the freeware of ubuntu or fedora."

I am sending this message to correct a mistake, the usage freeware
means something which is again proprietary but which is distributed
free of cost.

The correct usage is Free Software. http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/free-sw.html

Free Software provides you four essential freedoms and it enables all
of us to share software and be a part of this community. :D

    * The freedom to run the program, for any purpose (freedom 0).
    * The freedom to study how the program works, and adapt it to your
needs (freedom 1). Access to the source code is a precondition for
this.
    * The freedom to redistribute copies so you can help your neighbor
(freedom 2).
    * The freedom to improve the program, and release your
improvements (and modified versions in general) to the public, so that
the whole community benefits (freedom 3). Access to the source code is
a precondition for this.

So may be the usage freeware was a typo, the usage is wrong. And
ubuntu and fedora are two GNU/Linux distributions. And they are not
freewares, but Free Softwares.

@group
Ubuntu is good to start with, but once you feel confident I am sure
you will start trying other distros like debian, fedora, gentoo etc.
Basically all are the same, you can install the apps on any distro as
well as you can use any Desktop Environment like GNOME or KDE, so in
short its not just ubuntu's appearance, any distro can be customized
to suit your taste.

Low ram systems (128) can smoothly run Debian, either etch or lenny.
Lower than that, try puppy or something like that.
