To install proprietary NVDIA drivers in Kubuntu 8.10:
You need to install Envy. Run this command:
sudo apt-get install envyng-qt
Run Envy to grab the latest drivers:
envyng -t
Press 1 to install the Nvidia drivers. On the next screen, press the
appropriate number for the driver you want to install...which will be the
one marked with a + under the Recommended column.
Once the install is finished, it will ask you to reboot. Reboot.
After that go to Compiz settings and enable it.
