Did you install dosbox from the add/remove programs or did you install it seperately.If you installed it seperately I would recommend it to be installed using the first method. I use ubuntu-gutsy and dosbox runs perfectly fine.I don't really know about the error msg but it seems to me there is some problem with your audio settings.
