Why can't they ? They use several Free/Open Source systems(Python,
Java, etc..). Even though it's not mandatory to open the code if they
use any of the above software.

I think this is going to be another rant. I just pointed an example to
prove that this thread is OT and don't want to comment on the business
interests of Google or anyone else.
