As far as I know (AFAIK?), BTW has been in use for a loooong time. Kudos is not an abbreviation. It's an english word. I learned about IMHO only a couple of years back, and I guess it's very common these days (along with IMO). UAC? I have not seen that one in popular/generic use. Perhaps it's used *only* with Windows Vista terminology. When I was working in a IT firm, we had this training on communications where we were asked to restrict the use of such abbreviations in emails. The only ones that were deemed apropriate were FYI (For your information), PFA (please find attached) and one or two more.
