Just go to the settings of the Network in the Mandriva control center. there u can find out whether the modem is detected or not. previously i had the same problem with Mandriva 2008 but just with an update it was cleared for more clarity. also click the Monitor Net connection button and see whether connect automatically or manual connect is having a tick mark there. if there is not having a tick mark.. just select that and make tick mark in the connect automatically. ( if ur Username and password stored inside ur modem itself and no need to dial a connection) or else select manual connection by dialing. i am using BSNL net conenction and Mandriva for last 2 yrs and now with mandriva 200 too. till now its not creating any pblms. i am sure it will work for u too. but it will take soem time to find and make it working. anyway once again try and let me know. i will tell u the whole steps to make it connected.
In linux.. just do anything without any fear.. nothing will happen.. thast the way to study and find ourself.. :) please let me know if its still not working.
