If you are new to linux, then its good to start with installation
inside windows. You dont have to install it on the C drive, also its
not recommended. You can use any other partition with atleast 5 gb
free space. Keep in mind that you wont be able to utilize full power
of linux & may find some bugs, if you install inside windows. Once you
get a hang of it, then you can install outside windows.


You can start with ubuntu (/kubuntu), mint or mandriva.
