hi I tried this and it was working for me. ( i took a rs. 170 a week plan from airtel on a Nokia 6300 ). Use your data cable to connect your mobile with computer.( Bluetooth connection didnt detect mobile internet connection .i dnt knw why?) Then you can select the mode of usage as Nokia mode.(I dnt knw about other mobiles. You can select mode in nokia as this: go to settings -- > connectivity --> USB data cable -->Nokia mode ). Then ubuntu will detect Airtel internet connection and get connected to internet.
