Here is an interesting request that we have received regarding the
content of our mailing list. What is the license for the content that
we are generating through mails? Interesting legal question here. I
have forwarded the mail as is below this post. Discuss and decide.
Please reply all so that the authors get the replies as well.

Cheers
Anoop

Subject: Request to give us the permission for archiving mails of Free
Software Users Group

Dear FSUG-TVM maintainers,

My name is Sandip Patel and I am one of the FOSS
enthusiastic in India. My teammates Hardik, Gaurav, Venish, Terence
and I are maintaining a FOSS community Website aimed at increasing the
awareness of Free and Open Source Software.

Our Website, "The GNULinux Community Portal - www.gnulinux.in"
contains information about number of free and open source software
products, in addition to addressing specific concerns such as software
products technicals, user problems and solutions. We also provide
platform to share FOSS related job ads, share your art images under CC
license, useful links and download files. We are also planing to
include feature like FOSS business where FOSS entrepreneurs can share
their experience with community users.

As part of this initiative we are inviting FOSS experts to
share their stories. We hope that sharing these stories of courage and
determination within our Website will help us convey the importance of
FOSS to our visitors, while providing valuable insight that they might
not otherwise obtain.

We have been reading your mailing list posts since long, we
appreciate the quality of conversations you and mailing list members
are maintaining. To make this knowledge available for our site members
and visitors, with your permission, we would like to archive your
mailing list mails within our Website. It will be available as forum
posts in "GLUG (GNU/Linux User Groups) -->  ilug-tvm(Free Software
Users Group - Thiruvananthapuram)" named forum under the name of
original author. Our aim is to aggregate qualitative data from quality
mailing lists/lugs and make it available to open ended FOSS community
users.

If you have any questions regarding our initiative,
preferred confidentiality, copyright, or anything else, please feel
free to contact us. We hope to hear from you!

Sincerely,
The GNULinux Community Team
Sandip Patel
