Its really sad to know that there is no good file recovery tool for Ubuntu (at least for ext3). And I don't understand how the file format is essential in recovering files. I do understand its relevance if there is higher chances of over writes. But if I am very sure there is a particular file deleted from a specific location and no over writes have been taken place, shouldn't it be possible to extract based on some search for files without format specifications?
